If you are an OT/OTA:
The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) has an awesome Professional Development Tool (PDT) provided by AOTA’s Commission on Continuing Competence and Professional Development (CCCPD) that provides an excellent guide!
The steps will help you… assess your professional development needs and interests, develop a professional development plan, and document professional development in a Portfolio.
If you are a PT/PTA:
The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) provides a variety of Self Assessment Tools that will assist physical therapists (and their clinical supervisors or mentors) in evaluating their current level of knowledge and skills in various areas of practice.
If you are a SLP or Audiologists:
The American Speech Language-Hearing Association(ASHA) also provides many resources for career development available for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologist.
If you are an Athletic Trainer (AT):
The National Association of Athletic Trainers site, (NATA) provides an abundance of online links that will provide educational resources in any practice area. They even a quiz center that offers a wide range of courses on topics AT’s are confronted every day practice.
Resources are at your finger tips to plan for your continued growth and development as a practitioner in whatever specialty you may be focused on. Give yourself a jump start and start planning for your continued education months ahead!
